Ever since dangerous gates leading to dungeons filled with monsters appeared on Earth a decade ago, humans gained a new way to provide for themselves: certain individuals designated as hunters received otherworldly powers to fight the dangers within. Sung Jin-Woo works desperately as a hunter to keep his family afloat. However, due to his lack of power, he is known as the weakest hunter of all mankind. During a dungeon expedition with his party, an unexpected disaster occurs, leaving Jin-Woo on the brink of death. With this discovery, other Musik users are drawn to Otowakan, including Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Franz Schubert. However, not all Musik users have innocent desires. Across the city, the enigmatic Johann Sebastian Bach sits atop a tall building, plotting how to use his Musik.

Poputepipikku turns absurdist comedy up to eleven with its pop culture references and surreal hilarity. With two bonafide high school girl protagonists—the short and exceptionally quick to anger Popuko, and the tall and unshakably calm Pipimi—they throw genres against the wall and don't wait to see what sticks. Parody is interlaced with drama, action, crudeness, and the show's overarching goal—to become a real anime.
