Please DON'T listen to any of the comments before me. The intended watch order for the Fate series is: Fate stay night-- Unlimited blade works-- Heaven's Feel-- Zero. Even though Zero is a prequal, it is written assuming you have watched/read the other three routes. After these four you can really watch whatever, but these four are essential. I would personally recommend reading the VN and then watching the Anime, but if you don't want to do that I would recommend just waiting until you are ready to read a VN because the VN is so much better than the Anime. After reading the VN you can basically watch anything. If you are dead set on never reading the VN then start with the 2006 fate stay night. The author intended for fate route to be read first. Once again I want to emphasize that the VN is so much better then the Anime so if you ever see yourself reading novels in the future, just wait
